About 18 months ago after complaining of palpitations, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and mild hypertensive heart disease. I was prescribed beta-blockers and was told I would need them permanently. Three months ago I first contacted Mike as, although I was a member of a gym, I was not achieving the goals I wanted. My thoughts were that a Personal Trainer would give me the kick I needed; little did I know how much more I would get.
Dieting since a teen I have always had a weight problem and would lose weight only to gain it again when going back to eating 'normally'. Mike has challenged everything I have ever been told about weight loss and nutrition so now the way I eat IS normal. I eat better food and feel so much better for it, there is no way I would want to revert back to the way I was eating before.
Mike's advice on exercise also exploded a number of myths regarding exercise. I expected to end up completely breathless and aching when in actual fact neither have been the case and yet the results speak for themselves.
Since early October (3 months ago) I have lost over a stone and a half, 10 inches around my waist, 8 around my hips and gone down three dress sizes. Amazingly, my blood pressure is now normal and my GP has given me permission to come off the beta-blockers!
What Mike has helped me achieve is beyond anything I could have expected in such a short space of time, and I cannot express my gratitude enough. I would recommend him to anybody who asked. I had preconceived ideas as to what to expect from a Personal Trainer though with Mike I was wrong on so many counts. Everything was explained in such a straightforward (and kind) way, changing my eating habits and lifestyle was easy, and yet life changing in a very real way!

"In July 2010, I approached Mike Casey of Optima Personal Training with a view to assisting me with weight-loss. Having tried various diets in the past : Atkins, Weight-watchers, Slimming World etc, all seemed to have worked temporarily, but after a period, the weight returned, and frequently more than before. In addition to which, I was getting through each day on 10 - 12 cups of coffee, and not exactly eating healthily.
Mike's initial meeting made it clear to me that not only had all my previous efforts been in vein (which was obvious since I was on the verge of having to buy a whole new wardrobe) but were also completely misguided. Without a shadow of a doubt, Mike Casey has changed both my lifestyle and my life for the better, and the relatively small fee for this success pales into insignificance compared to the benefit I have, and continue to receive. I have recommended many of my close friends go and see Mike and I am sure this will benefit them as much as it has me.
As for having to buy a whole new wardrobe - well, that has still happened - albeit with medium sizes, not extra large.
